Matthew started his Play Action journey in 2017/18 when he came out as a volunteer with Loughborough University. This is when he experienced first-hand how welcoming to people of Uganda were and one of his core memories is doing countless laps of the playground on his first open day, enjoying all the features with the kids at the school. He went on to study Economics and worked with children around the world but always wanted to return to East Africa, so he jumped at the opportunity to come back out in the summer of 2023 as a Summer Projects Officer. It was in these 11 weeks on projects that he realised how important Project Play is to our beneficiaries as well as to our volunteers so applied to be part of the team full time and now works as a Volunteer Coordinator, travelling around the UK sharing his own life-changing memories.
