Alina takes on a Wicked Wing Walk for Play Action

Alina Green is a third year fashion student at Arts University Bournemouth concentrating on her passion for sustainability with her design work. She is also the current Miss Dorset and finalist of the year for Miss England, the finals for which will be held on 24 June. Alina learned about Play Action International through a friend who had volunteered with the organisation previously and loved it. It’s something she have been wanting to do for a long time so thought she would sign up!

For her fundraising, Alina likes to do challenging, adventurous things and didn’t want to do something everyone finds easy, she’s happy to push herself to encourage people to donate too. So, Alina decided to take on Play Action International’s Wicked Wing Walk – an exhilarating experience, standing on the top wing of a 1940s biplane while flying across the English countryside. The wing walk was a perfect example of that. She has previously done the three peaks challenge, tough mudder, skydiving and swimming with sharks to fundraise for charity.

We asked Alina what was the best part of her challenge and whether she would do it again. We also asked her what advice she would give to others. She said,

“The best part was the zero gravity from the plane rapidly flying up and down, it’s such a cool feeling and really gets the adrenaline rush going! I would 100% do it again and now I am qualified to do a loop the loop if I do it again which would be scary but exciting! My volunteer trip has been postponed, so I have a longer time period to fundraise, I have to think about what I’m going to do next but I’m sure it will be something adventurous. I think by doing something different or challenging makes you stand out from the crowd and encourages people to donate. I also shared it a lot on all of my social media and got my friends and family to share it too.

My advice would be the crazier the better, people are more inclined to donate if it’s something they wouldn’t do as it’s impressive. Also, make it memorable and give a lot of details about Play Action International, so people know what they are donating towards. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all those who have donated and supported me, I went past my goal which I am thrilled with.”

Alina has now raised over £2,000 for Play Action International and Miss England BWAP. You can donate to her fundraising page here. We want to say a huge thank you to Alina for taking part. Inspired by Alina’s amazing achievement? Sign-up to do a Wicked Wing Walk of your own.
