JOIN OUR ADVENTURE TRY-ATHLON

The Adventure Try-athlon will give you a chance to discover, explore and develop whilst in Uganda through a multitude of jam-packed experiences that will create memories to last a lifetime! You’ll be kayaking, rafting, biking, hiking, climbing, exploring, building – all the ‘-ings’!

You’ll also spend time integrated within a community, transforming an empty field at a primary school into a safe, fun and exciting playground for children, enabling them to access a childhood and provide them with a brighter future through play.

Kayak the Legendary River Nile! All aboard your trusty boat and splash along the calm waters of the Legendary River Nile before taking on the exhilarating, wonderful white rapids. You will tackle 40km over two days, and as the sun goes down, you can watch the swooping birds dive down to catch their supper before you catch yours!

Ride through the beautiful national park landscape and see the Sipi Falls, covering an impressive 75 km over two days! Time to transition from water to wheels - You’ll roam across rolling hills, tackle the winding roads and take in the panoramic views of the famously stunning Sipi Falls. Then recharge with a sippy-sippy of some locally grown coffee-coffee! — Ride through the beautiful national park landscape and see the Sipi Falls, covering an impressive 75 km over two days! Take on the 4 day hike to the fabled summit Wagagai (4,321m) on Mount Elgon. The final stage and it’s time to get stepping! You’ll explore the magnificent trails of Mount Elgon as your team navigates their way through the spectacular surroundings until you reach the final straight of your adventure. Climbing the heady heights of Mount Elgon, discovering the stunning and rare flora and fauna along the way.

Now time to volunteer! You’ll be transforming an empty field at a primary school into a playground bursting with colour and fun, leaving a legacy for children to learn and develop essential life skills and nurture their physical, psychological and social development for years to come. During your time, you’ll immerse yourself into the community by supporting our trained build team with construction, witnessing our play-based education programme in-action, crafting personal items and accessories with locals, connecting with people through rhythm and music during drumming sessions, and learn and contribute to vital community initiatives.

FAQs

Q: A triathlon? I’m no endurance athlete, how challenging is this going to be?

A: No need to fear! This is a ‘try-athlon’. It’s an epic adventure, not a race. You will get to complete 3 amazing activities at a leisurely pace. From lazily floating down the River Nile in your kayak, to traversing through the flora and fauna of Mt Elgon, you’ll have plenty of time to complete each stage and soak up all those endorphines! Even SLO Farrah could do this!

Q: How will I hit my fundraising target?

A: Whether you have never fundraised before or are a seasoned pro, we’ve got your back. Our team will offer you comprehensive support throughout your fundraising journey, ensuring you smash your target. We have supported thousands of fundraisers like you over the past 10 years and will share our strategies with you to ensure you succeed.

Q: Will it be safe to travel with COVID-19? What happens if my trip is affected?

A: We are fully confident that trips will go ahead in 2021 when you’re heading out. All our activities are risk assessed and insured and once in Uganda you will be supported by our local team. We have 10+ years’ experience of delivering life-shaping experiences for volunteers including during several Ebola outbreaks and national elections! If for whatever reason the safety of our volunteers or the communities we serve come into question, we will postpone your trip. Safety is our primary concern at all times!
